Forever in Our Hearts

Moose, our first Shiloh, comes from the outstanding breeding of CJ’s Sampson V Blitzkrieg and 7 Star’s Pure & Simple of CJ. Moose is a big, beautiful, and friendly boy with lots of old Shiloh “type”. He has a wonderful temperament and loves meeting new people. Even those normally afraid of large dogs are drawn to his good looks and gentle nature.

After receiving outstanding hip results at two years of age, Moose was evaluated by other Shiloh breeders who agreed that he would be an asset to the breed. We would like to have shown him, but an accident at 9 months of age necessitated the extraction of a broken canine, which we were told would deter the judges. We then searched for a female which would compliment him, and chose a girl from the Cade/Blue breeding, which we named Terra. Unfortunately, we found that Moose is sterile and cannot be used for breeding.

After entering Moose in companion classes at shows, the judges told us he should compete in the regular classes, dispite an extracted canine. So, occasionally, we will enter him at a show along with our girls. We also started agility classes with Moose, when winter was icy and dangerous for playing outside, and we thought the exercise, socializing, and mental challenge would be good. We completed beginning and intermediate agility classes until he no longer enjoyed jumping due to his maturing size.

We then turned to therapy work and Moose now enjoys monthly visits to residents at a retirement village and is a big hit at the annual Special Olympics at Penn State University.
